I have highlighted a couple of moves to AOL in previous blogs and today I am doing another. It appears that AOL is really working hard to beef up their executive team prior to the expected spin off from Time Warner later this year. Brad Garlinghouse, AOL's new President Internet and Mobile Communications, comes out of Yahoo!, where he spent nearly 6 years, most recently as the SVP Communications, Communities and Front Door. Garlinghouse's role at AOL seems to be very similar to his previous role at Yahoo. The Garlinghouse hire comes within months of two pickups from Google, including AOL's CEO Tim Armstrong. Looks like AOL is looking to get back into the fight that they have been sleeping through for years, the battle for marketshare with Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft.
